Eminent Domain – Downey
As you may have all seen the news, The 5 Freeway Expansion project affects homes adjacent to the freeway in a process known as Eminent Domain.
As a Downey Resident and Realtor, I am reaching out to you as this affects us all.
My goal is to provide you, my neighbors resources and information to make decisions that are best for you whether you want to fight this proposal or relocate.
What you may or may not know is, you can negotiate the price/value of your home. I will help you with the tools and resources to prepare you.
In the interim, I can provide you the current value of your home using multiple approaches so when in that position, you have every tool and resource available to get the best value for your home and understand how these amounts are calculated.
Simply request a Home Value Report directly from me, I’ll have that to you asap. By finding out what your home is worth doesn’t mean you agree with this proposal but it puts you in a better position to negotiate if you have to. You can also get your own appraisal to support your value if you and the City are not in a position of agreement.
I will continue to put together resources as to what you can do to fight this proposal. As residents, we have to get organized and know where to find information to help us.
